There are nine Provinces of the Episcopal Church, each comprising of a number of dioceses as members. In recent years, some provinces have moved into a more supportive nature to General Convention, meeting the year of General Convention to prepare and decide necessary actions. Some provinces are also the primary support network for Diocesan Ministries: specific groups with ministry focus areas gather by province to share resources and support each other's programs or ministries. Each Province has Bylaws, but has very little influence in the governance of the church. The Diocese of the Virgin Islands is part of Province 2. |
Between synods, there is a president of the province and council who oversees budget and program implementation. |
