The Constitution of the Episcopal Church was adopted in 1789 In Philadelphia

Many of the same people who wrote the U.S. Constitution were involved in the writing of The Episcopal Constitution

However, the Civil War and the 14th Amendment Weakened the power of the States.  There was no Similar weakening in the power of Dioceses
